The Route to Discovery
Your adventure begins in Kathmandu, the bustling capital, where the pulse of Nepal beats strongly. After preparing your Royal Enfield, you'll set off on the first leg, riding towards the captivating lakeside city of Pokhara. This initial stretch offers scenic views, transitioning from the crowded valley to more open roads, building anticipation for the wild landscapes ahead. In Pokhara, you'll have the chance to explore this amazing tourist city, renowned for its serene Phewa Lake, towering mountain backdrop, and vibrant atmosphere – a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure preparation. From Pokhara, the journey takes a more rugged turn towards Beni, the gateway to the Kali Gandaki Gorge. As you ride further north, the landscape begins its dramatic transformation. The road narrows, weaving alongside the powerful Kali Gandaki River, leading you deeper into the world's deepest gorge. The sheer scale of the cliffs rising on either side is truly humbling, offering amazing landscapes at every turn.
On the way to Jomsom from Beni, another iconic destination, is Tatopani, where you'll get the chance to experience the natural hot spring. After days on the road, soaking in these therapeutic waters under the open sky is a truly refreshing and unforgettable experience. Continuing through the gorge, the terrain becomes increasingly arid, signalling your approach to the rain shadow region. You'll arrive in Jomsom, a bustling administrative hub in the Mustang region, known for its strong winds and unique stark beauty. The transition in landscape here is striking, with barren hills replacing green forests, hinting at the high-altitude desert ahead. Just a short ride from Jomsom is Kagbeni, the ancient gateway to Upper Mustang and arguably one of the most picturesque villages you'll encounter. This is where the magic truly begins, as you'll cross the checkpoint that marks your entry into the last forbidden kingdom—a truly exclusive privilege. The architecture, culture, and even the air
From Kagbeni, your deep dive into Upper Mustang truly begins. On the way to Chhusang and then Ghami, you'll witness amazing landscapes characterised by vibrant ochre cliffs, striking wind-eroded formations, vast open plains, and deeply sculpted riverbeds. Along this path, you will see ancient chortens and traditional villages nestled against the hillsides, creating a profound sense of wonder and isolation. Keep an eye out for numerous ancient monasteries tucked into the cliffs, their prayer flags constantly fluttering, and don't miss the mysterious caves carved high into the rock faces. The culture here is distinctly Tibetan, and as you draw closer to Lo Manthang, you'll feel the exciting proximity to the Tibetan vibes. Finally, after navigating challenging yet rewarding trails, you'll reach Lo Manthang, the ancient walled capital of Upper Mustang. Stepping inside its medieval walls feels like stepping back in time. Explore its royal palace, grand monasteries, and the narrow alleyways that have witnessed centuries of history. This is the pinnacle of your journey, a profound encounter with a living Tibetan culture preserved in isolation.
On the return journey, we’ll follow the same route, with a special visit to Muktinath Temple from Kagbeni before reaching Jomsom. We’ll spend some peaceful time at this sacred site, known for its eternal flame and 108 water spouts, offering prayers and enjoying the serene mountain views. After the visit, we’ll continue our ride to Marpha Village, famous for its apple orchards and charming atmosphere. The next day, we head back to Pokhara, wrapping up our incredible Himalayan adventure. This motorbike tour is more than just a ride; it's a profound exploration of ancient history, unique cultures, and some of the most dramatic and untouched landscapes on earth, culminating in the rare chance to visit a truly "forbidden" kingdom.
