Kailash
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is one of the holiest pilgrimages for people following four different religions -- Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bon. Hindus believe Mt Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva. It is one of the toughest pilgrimages in the world as pilgrims have to negotiate high passes and endure life in the high altitudes of the Himalayas. It is one of the most important pilgrimages for Hindus. They take a holy dip in the sacred Mansarovar Lake and circumambulate the difficult trails around Mt Kailash for the holy Parikrama or Kora, as the Buddhists say. It is believed that taking a holy dip in Mansarovar washes away one’s sins of the past 100 lives.
