Annapurna Base Camp is one of Nepal’s most popular mountain destinations. While trekking to ABC takes several days, a Pokhara-to-Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour lets you experience this incredible Himalayan destination in much less time. The journey begins in Pokhara, the beautiful lakeside city and gateway to the Annapurna region. As the helicopter takes off, you will enjoy panoramic views of Phewa Lake, Pokhara Valley, terraced hills, forests, and traditional mountain villages. The flight continues toward the Annapurna Sanctuary, passing over beautiful areas including Ghandruk and Chhomrong and following the Modi Khola valley. As you approach the base camp, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic, with towering Himalayan peaks surrounding the flight route. At Annapurna Base Camp, the helicopter lands for a short time, allowing you to step out, enjoy the extraordinary mountain surroundings, take photographs, and experience the atmosphere of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Weather and aviation conditions determine the exact landing duration. From the base camp, the helicopter takes off again for a scenic return flight to Pokhara, giving you another opportunity to admire the Himalayas from above.

Useful Info

Best Time

For the Annapurna Helicopter tour, you can fly all year round during the day, but the visibility should be clear. So autumn and spring are the best seasons to explore the Annapurna by helicopter. Winter (December to February) is perfect but the landing place will be full of snow.  Rainy season is not recommended for the helicopter ride because the cloud and foggy weather disturbs on the visibility and almost not possible to fly. So best time for Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter tour is in the months of February, March, April and May. September, October, November and December are the other months for helicopter flight. The Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour can be arranged in two ways — either as a Private Charter Helicopter Tour or a Group Joining Helicopter Tour. Both options offer breathtaking views of the Himalayas and an unforgettable landing experience at Annapurna Base Camp (ABC).

Packing List

Even though the Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour takes only a few hours, you will be flying from Pokhara to an altitude of 4,130 meters, where temperatures can be much colder than in the city. Packing the right essentials will make your flight and short stay at Annapurna Base Camp more comfortable and enjoyable. We recommend wearing warm, comfortable layers that can easily be added or removed according to the weather. A warm down or windproof jacket, thermal layer, scarf, gloves, and warm hat are especially useful during the colder months. In spring and autumn, layering is ideal as temperatures can change quickly. Even during warmer months, bring a warm jacket because temperatures at the base camp can remain cold. Protect yourself from strong Himalayan sunlight with sunglasses, sunscreen, and lip balm, and wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes suitable for walking around the base camp. Don't forget your camera or smartphone to capture the incredible views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, and the surrounding peaks.
