About the Sacred Muktinath Temple
Situated at 3,710 meters in Mustang, Muktinath is one of the holiest pilgrimage destinations for Hindus and Buddhists. Known as Mukti Kshetra (“Place of Liberation”), this temple is believed to grant salvation and purification from sins. It is also recognized as the 105th Divya Desam out of the 108 sacred Vishnu temples and is historically known as Thiru Saligramam. The temple houses the revered Saligrama Sila, the natural form of Lord Vishnu. The gold deity of Vishnu stands gracefully inside the main shrine, surrounded by a peaceful spiritual ambience. Muktinath is also one of the eight sacred Svayam Vyakta Kshetras, making it deeply significant for Vaishnavas around the world.
