From Hillary’s land to Sherpa’s trail `The EBC trekker’s tale.

As a Nepali living in New Zealand, I've always held a deep connection to the majestic Himalayas. The yearning to return to my roots and stand beneath the towering peaks of Everest has been a lifelong dream. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to embark on this journey with Iconic Holiday Nepal, and it was an experience that exceeded all expectations.

Leaving the familiar shores of Auckland and returning to my homeland was a bittersweet moment. As the plane descended towards Kathmandu, I was overwhelmed by a sense of nostalgia and excitement. The bustling city streets, the vibrant colours, and the intoxicating aroma of spices instantly transported me back to my childhood.

The flight to Lukla, often dubbed the world's most dangerous airport, was an adventure in itself. As the small plane approached the airstrip nestled between towering mountains, I couldn't help but feel a mix of awe and trepidation. The landing was a thrilling experience, but the breathtaking views that awaited us made it all worthwhile.

Our journey to Everest Base Camp was a gradual ascent through picturesque villages, lush forests, and towering peaks. Each day brought new challenges and rewards. The camaraderie of our trekking group, the support of our local guides, and the stunning beauty of the Himalayas made every step worthwhile.

As a Nepali, I had a unique perspective on the trek. I was able to connect with the local people on a deeper level, understanding their way of life and appreciating their resilience. Witnessing the Sherpa communities thriving in such harsh conditions was truly inspiring.

Reaching Everest Base Camp was a surreal moment. Standing beneath the world's highest peak, I felt a profound sense of accomplishment and gratitude. The view was simply breathtaking, and the silence was broken only by the occasional rumble of an avalanche.
