When you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, one of our officials will be there to greet you. They will accompany you to your hotel using our private tourist vehicle.

We will start the day with breakfast at your hotel, and then take some introductory sessions. There, we'll have a quick lesson to learn some essential Nepali words and phrases that will be useful for daily conversations and teaching in the village. The lesson length can be adjusted based on what the group prefers. After the lesson, we'll go on a guided sightseeing tour of important historical, religious, and cultural sites in Kathmandu, including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, and Boudhanath.

Our main target is Hansapur, but Bhachchek is a renowned destination that serves as a central hub connecting several villages in the area. To reach Hansapur, we will embark on a journey to Bhachchek. It is a popular and well-known village that acts as a gateway to other nearby villages. After our 1-hour walk from Bhachchek, we will arrive at the village of Hansapur. As we reach the village, we will be warmly welcomed by the villagers. Their hospitality and friendly nature will make us feel right at home. It will be a heartwarming experience to be greeted by the locals, who will be excited to have us as volunteers in their community.

Upon arrival at the school in Hansapur, a special welcome ceremony will be organized to greet the volunteers. The school staff, students, and community members will come together to extend their warmest greetings and appreciation for your presence. This welcome ceremony will mark the beginning of your volunteering activities in the school and community. It will be an exciting and memorable moment, filled with cultural traditions, heartfelt speeches, and joyful interactions. Following the ceremony, you will dive into your volunteering work, engaging in various activities such as teaching, assisting students, organizing educational initiatives, and contributing to the overall development of the school.

 

During their free time, volunteers can fully immerse themselves in the local community, engage in cultural activities, explore the surroundings, and participate in traditional dances, music sessions, and leisurely walks. Saturdays are reserved for exploring nearby beautiful places, while one day during their stay is dedicated to social awareness programs and activities, where volunteers share their knowledge and skills with the local community. These leisure time activities offer valuable opportunities for connection, cultural exchange, and personal growth, enhancing the overall volunteer experience.

As the school volunteering program comes to an end, a heartfelt farewell program is organized by the school to bid farewell to the volunteers. It's a special event filled with gratitude and appreciation for the time spent together. Emotions run high as everyone says their goodbyes and cherishes the memories created during their time at the school.

In the evening, an enchanting cultural program takes place, showcasing the vibrant traditions and talents of the local community. Volunteers, along with the students, teachers, and villagers, gather to enjoy traditional music, dance, and other cultural performances. It's a night of celebration and joy, where the richness of the local culture is celebrated and shared.

The farewell program and cultural evening leave a lasting impression, creating fond memories and strengthening the connections formed between volunteers and the community.

The trek to Bhachchek Bazaar and the return journey to Kathmandu create an incredible journey, filled with adventure, cultural encounters, and natural beauty. We will host a farewell dinner at a typical Nepalese restaurant with cultural dance and music in the evening.

    You can choose how long you want to volunteer for in the Gorkha School Volunteering Program. Whether it's a few weeks, a month, or even longer, you have the freedom to decide the duration that works best for you.

Many schools have English as a medium of instruction, and basic communication skills in English can be sufficient. However, a willingness to learn and adapt to the local language and customs is highly appreciated.

    For this package, we take care of carrying heavy items like equipment and supplies either by vehicle or with the assistance of porters. However, it is important for clients to carry their personal belongings that they will need throughout the day. These items may include money, water bottle, rain gear, camera, sun cream, and toilet paper, among others. To ensure convenience and easy access, it is advisable to pack your personal items in two separate bags. This way, you can keep your essential belongings with you while the heavier items are handled by our support team.
