Everest Heli Tour initiates from Kathmandu at Tribhuwan International Airport, domestic terminal. You will board your AS350 BS Helicopter for your tour to Everest. The helicopter takes off and heads eastward from Kathmandu. One of the most spectacular things you can expect to see on your Heli journey is the Himalayan mountain range. The region is home to some of the highest peaks in the world, including Mount Everest (8,849m), Lhotse (8,516m), Cho Oyu (8,188m), and Makalu (8,485m). As you fly over the range, you can expect to see these majestic peaks up close, which is an awe-inspiring sight to behold. The views are especially breathtaking on a clear day when the snow-covered mountains glisten in the sunlight.
In addition to the mountains, you will also see traditional Nepalese villages nestled in the valleys and hills. These villages are a stark contrast to the modern city of Kathmandu and offer a glimpse into the local culture and way of life. The houses in these villages are typically made of stone and wood, and they often have thatched roofs. The villages are surrounded by terraced fields used to grow crops such as rice, wheat, and maize.
As you approach Lukla, you will also see the Tenzing-Hillary Airport, which is considered one of the most dangerous airports in the world due to its short runway and challenging approach. The runway is only 527 meters long and is situated at an altitude of 2,843 meters, which makes it a tricky landing for even the most experienced pilots. As you descend towards the airport, you will see the runway and the surrounding mountains, which can be a thrilling experience. After a refuelling stopover at the Lukla airport, we fly further chasing the Everest vista. Your chopper will land you at Kalapathhar Peak (5,555 m) and wait for another 10-15 minutes for your wandering time. Kalapathhar is the highest point of Everest Base Camp Trek and stands right in front of Mt.Pumori. A 360° view of Everest Panorama is seen from Kalapathhar.
Your flight will then descend down to Syangboche for your visit to the famous Everest View Hotel. This is considered one of the highest Hotel at an altitude of 3,950 m. You will be served a warm breakfast at the hotel while watching the amazing Everest Vista. Your flight will now start with your return journey which will include Lukla stopover for refuelling if needed, then head towards Kathmandu. This trip duration is about 4-5 hours roundtrip journey and is feasible for those limited by time for the authentic trek to Everest Base Camp.
